In 2015, two friends fresh out of UC Berkeley released a promotional video of a self-piloted camera drone following a snowboarder down a mountain. Capturing the public’s imagination the founders raised $34 million in pre-orders for their drone and seemed to be the next startup success story. But the drone never shipped and the startup closed its doors leaving customers wondering what happened to the promise of the perfect selfie drone.
